The museum is built on a vast area that encompasses a large coin collection and a large number of stamps, banknotes and other forms of payment. Museo Guggenheim Bilbao

Welcome to Tokyo, Why You Should Visit Tokyo Now

Images of Japan range from the ancient temples of Kyoto and Nara, to the mystical mountain shrines of the Kii peninsula, to the ultra modern skyline of Tokyo and its denizens who have a penchant for dressing like Little Bow Peep and the odd cartoon hero. People tend to either bypass Tokyo completely or spend their whole time in the city depending on their preferences and what they are looking for in Japan.

The truth is that Tokyo is much more than street fashion, high end gadgets and earthquake resistant skyscrapers. In fact Tokyo, or Edo as it was once known, has as much history and culture as the other areas of Japan. If you are visiting Japan, no matter what you're interested in, you should make it a point to explore all that Tokyo has to offer before you move on to explore the rest of the country.

Tokyo is a thriving metropolis that is part futuristic and part old quaint town that blends together in a wonderful mix of modern and traditional. With over 33 million people living in the greater Tokyo Metropolitan area it can be difficult to peel back the concrete and neon facade that most visitors see and never move beyond.

If it's your first time in the city there are a number of attractions that you should not miss. Start your tour in Shinjuku and a walk with the young generation in their quest for the latest name brands. Move on to Meiji Shrine to the south were you are welcomed into a quite forested park at the center of which sits a massive wooden Shinto shrine where, if you are lucky you'll catch a glimpse of a traditional Shinto wedding. Exit the grounds through a large tori gate and into Harajuku and mingle with the young hip crowd dressed in costume play. Walk and take pictures with Little Bow Peep, Goth sweethearts, and the anime characters.

Move on to the more traditional areas of Tokyo (shita-machi, or lower town) and visit Asakusa area with the oldest and grandest temple in Tokyo, Sensoji. Head to Akihabara for a break back into the modern world with the latest gadgets and the peculiar culture of Maid Café's that have sprung up to service the Otaku (diehard fan) of the cartoon and comic genres. Loaded up with a new camera head up to Ueno Park where you can stroll amongst cherry blossom trees, ancient temples and visit the Ueno Zoo and pay a quick visit to their newest additions from China, the adorable Giant Pandas Bili and Xiannu.

As night approaches (no, you are not able to do all of the above in one day) it is time to burrow into the endless alleys and night fun that Tokyo offers. If you are hungry head back to Shinjuku, pick a small street and walk down it. There are a ton of small places to get lost in and sample dinner like the locals.

Look out for a nice izakya (like a tapas bar) where you can sample a large variety of dishes and drink. Once you are full head over to Roppongi or Izabuchuban areas where the night life really heats up with countless bars and clubs. You should plan for a late night as the clubs stay open, and full, until 4 am or so. Party until the first trains start and grab a bowl of miso ramen from a noodle shop to help fight off a hangover.

When you get back to your hotel, shower, take a 5 min nap and then rinse and repeat. Tokyo has an energy that will keep you motivated and awake your whole trip. After all, when will you be in Japan again?  Takuya Sato

By law, a restaurant's menu prices include the service charge, so tipping is an option, not an obligation. In general, you should leave a bit of change if it you have been happy with the customer care with 5% of the total being sufficient. It is also customary to leave some change on the tables in bars and cafes.

Spain is a member of the Schengen Agreement, so visitors from countries included in the agreement do not need a visa to visit this country, regardless of the time of their stay. However, if the stay is over 90 days, visitors must register with the police. Residents of other countries not party to the Agreement, including Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland and the United States, need a visa for stays of up to 90 days. Schengen visas cannot be extended, so those who wish to stay longer than 90 days must apply for a green card during the first month of stay. I would like to present a brief account of the most popular things that tourists in Tokyo do.

One of the most interesting places in Tokyo is the 'Ginza'. This hot spot was established in the 17th century and has an array of modern commercial complexes, shops, dance clubs, bars and art galleries. There are more than 4,000 restaurants in these expensive streets and language won't be a barrier here. Enjoy the high-tech animation shows and engage in some shopping at the Sony Center or try your photography skills in the Nikon gallery. To experience the dance, music, and folklore of this great country visit the Kabuki-za theatre. Even though the plays are a bit lengthy and slightly difficult to follow even with English translations, the colorful costumes, elaborate sets and the dramatic narrations will surely entertain all. Additionally, making the extra effort to understand the context of the play will give an even more accurate depiction of their significance.

Visiting Meiji-Jingu shrine, Tokyo's most famous shrine, is an essential part of all tourist packages. The Shinjuku-ku national garden has innumerable varieties of tropical trees, plants, bridges, paths and koi ponds and is spread across 150 acres is. Ueno Park is located on the northeast side of the Yamanote Line and is another huge park in Tokyo. Remember that you can watch Sumo wrestling match at Kokugikan. This is an ancient and unique form of hand to hand combat. If you want to see more sports, go and watch the baseball game at Tokyo Dome or Jingu Stadium.

A Tokyo trip won't be complete without travelling in a Japanese train. The bullet trains are the most advanced trains and are faster than you can imagine. Arrange a train trip at Tokyo's Post Town to avoid the morning and afternoon rush hours. You can also try the Yurikamome elevated train from the Shimbashi station, across the bay bridge. The well-known Edo-Tokyo museum presents the history and development of the country through realistic models.

Another center which is a must see for your kids is the wax museum at the Tokyo tower. This museum has models of historical figures as well as rock stars. Another outing the children will enjoy is a visit to the most visited amusement park of the world, Tokyo Disney Resort. Visit Akihabara to see and purchase every new electronic device at an affordable price. Tokyo Tower is actually taller than the Eiffel Tower and offers a good viewing platform. The Rainbow Bridge at Odaiba also provides a great view over the city. When in Sydney

Sydney is largest city in Australia and the state capital of New South Wales. The presence of the Opera house and the Sydney harbor bridge undoubtedly make it the most iconic place in Australia, and its location and beaches probably make it one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

The great thing about Sydney and the rest of Australia, is that there is accommodation for all types of traveller. There are plenty of backpacker hotels and information kiosks almost everywhere you go. If you are new to Australia its advisable to book your first week in advance so you get time to settle in. Accommodation can get very thin in February as it's the height of summer and when the Sydney Mardi Gras takes place.

Sydney's climate is classified as sub-tropical. This means that during the summer month's you should expect some rain and humidity. In the winter months you should also expect rain but it'll never get that cold. In fact the climate is comparable to South Carolina and Georgia, but in reverse, as Sydney is in the southern hemisphere.

There is no doubt that while you are in Sydney you should jump on the train and head to Bondi beach. The real estate here is the most expensive in Australia and home to the rich and famous. On a hot summers day, Bondi beach is an unforgettable experience and epitomizes the Australian way of life.

Another great beach to visit is Manly beach. To get there, head down to Circular Quay and catch one of the green ferry boats, that sail round the headland. It is a regular service so as long as you don't miss that last one of the day, you'll be fine. Manly beach is smaller than Bondi, but is a lot less hectic, and if you're lucky, you might catch an Iron Man contest.

Next on your list should be a climb of the Sydney Harbor Bridge. This iconic bridge is world famous by its shape, and you'll be surprised how big it is when you see it in person There are regular walks up to the top of the bridge, where you'll be fitted out with a helmet and harness. Seems scary, but when you get to the top you'll be rewarded with a breath taking view of the city.

Another great destination for a day trip are the Blue Mountains, that nestle behind the city. You can catch one of the double decker trains and head for Katoomba. In the pioneering days, this town was a popular destination to escape the summer heat, as its elevation makes it lot cooler than Sydney.
